ICYMARE Photo Exhibition at the House of Science Bremen
Do you remember the ICYMARE Photo Competition, which we organized during the pandemic? In 2021, we asked you to submit your best photos, we had a jury finding some winners and we distributed some ICYMARE Photo Grants as prizes. The very best of the submitted photos are now compiled in a unique photo exhibition!
“Young Marine Scientists at Work” is currently on display at the House of Science Bremen (“Haus der Wissenschaft Bremen”). Until 22 October 2025, you can have a look at 35 pictures taken by young marine researchers and the background stories of each photography (in German and English!)
Our goal is to show the dedication and passion with which these young researchers pursue their work. Each photo captures a unique aspect of marine research – whether it’s the researchers themselves at work, the different habitats they study, or the species that spark their interest. Each image has an exciting story behind it: Where was it taken? What does it show, and why is it special to the young people who took it? We invite viewers to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of these motivated individuals who pursue their projects with enthusiasm and determination.
This exhibition portrays marine research on the one hand and the beauty of nature itself, which is worth preserving, on the other. The different perspectives on the research subjects, habitats, and organisms show the complexity and diversity of marine research. On the other hand, the exhibition aims to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs that shape the path of young researchers.
You can find the exhibition at the House of Science Bremen (“Haus der Wissenschaft Bremen”), Sandstraße 4/5 (located left hand behind the Bremen Cathedral). The exhibition is on display until 22 October.
After this exhibition, the photos can also be shown at other locations. Please contact moc.e1764539246ramyc1764539246i@vwn1764539246, if you are interested.
